Prior to marriage, a girl’s lip and ear are usually pierced at the age of 15 or 16. The stretched ears and lip of the girl indicate that she has become a woman and is now capable of bearing children. The lip plate, also known as a lip plug, lip disc, or mouth plate is a form of body modification.
