The tick is when factions update and affects, among other things, system and installation control as well as market prices. Many traders looking to profit and squadrons affecting system control follow BGS closely. BGS Primer (English Version) WebDemand and price is fixed for the day and prices change based on how much you have in your hold compared to the current demand. Prices and demand are based on BGS States and System Stats. BGS states change on the daily BGS tick, not the power play tick. Currently the BGS tick is about 10:30 am USA Eastern Time.
